Business Development Manager

We use data from over 500,000 frontline workers to help employers hire better-matched candidates. Where traditional job boards send huge volumes of low-quality candidates, Breakroom is able to use information collected from the Breakroom Quiz to provide employers with a smaller better-matched pool of applicants.Our customers are Talent and Recruitment specialists from large hospitality, retail, and logistics companies. We sell software to help recruitment teams hire better-quality frontline candidates.You’ll work very closely with the CMO, CEO and product manager so ideally you’ll have experience of working within a startup/scaleup environment where speed and continuous feedback helps make the product better for all users.We’re building a safe and inclusive workplace, where everyone is valued for their contribution and able to do the best work they can in a fun and supportive environment.This is a hybrid role, working 2-days a week from our office in Spitalfields, so you must be within commuting distance.


How we workWe have ambitious but realistic goals, which you’ll use to define your sales quotas. We work in a multi-disciplinary environment with Product, Marketing and Sales working collaboratively to solve big problems for our customers.We have a consultative approach to selling; understanding our customers’ pain points and providing solutions based on their needs. We’re results driven and ambitious.We manage our pipeline closely through Hubspot so experience of CRMs will be essential in this role. We’re open to learning novel ways of managing deals through Hubspot and we’re flexible enough to change our approach if it helps us achieve our goals.Who are we looking for?The role will report to the Head of Sales and be part of the marketing/revenue team. You will be one of 3 sales hires we expect to make within the next few months.You’ll be responsible for selling our jobs platform to recruitment teams within large retail, hospitality and logistics companies.So to be successful in this roleYou’ll need to:

  • Have experience in selling high-value solutions in a business environment, ideally within HR, talent, recruitment or people teams.
  • Have consistently exceeded your sales quotas and be able to evidence that
  • Have a few years experience of using CRMs
  • Be results driven
  • Be a self-starter who is able to take initiative and not wait to be told
  • Have strong relationship-building skills
  • Have strong empathy and great questioning skills
  • Have plenty of curiosity
  • Be flexible and very comfortable working in an ever-changing fast-paced environment
  • Be bought into our mission

Some extra things that would help but aren’t critical:

  • Experience working within recruitment (extra points if you have worked in high volume, frontline recruitment)
  • Have contacts within recruitment/talent or HR teams
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring
  • Experience in developing strategic sales plans
  • Have experience working in cross-functional teams
  • Have worked within a fast-paced startup/scaleup environment
