Compliance Manager

Job purpose

Assist the Group Compliance and Operations Manager with case management, delivery of training, advice and guidance to all Oxford International staff and to support the Group’s compliance with regard to safeguarding.

Develop data management policies and procedures to ensure the Group’s compliance with data protection legislation; overseeing initial investigations into data breaches and delivering training, advice and guidance to staff and students of OIEG.

Assist the Group Compliance and Operations Director with developing policies on UKVI compliance, assist and advise on UKVI audits, work with Admissions and the Pathways colleges to ensure the integrity of the Group’s Student and Worker Licence.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

Safeguarding:

Assessment of, and responding to, safeguarding cases to ensure consistent application and adherence to Oxford International’s policies and procedures
To contribute to the effective implementation of the OIEG’s Safeguarding Policy and procedures by providing advice and guidance to all departments and teams in the Group
Being active in the development of policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with external legislation
To deliver a comprehensive programme of training across the Group to ensure OIEG meets its safeguarding responsibilities across all departments
Supporting compliance activities as they pertain to safeguarding, for example with the Office for Students (OfS), ISI and British Council

Data Protection:

Receiving, investigating and responding to notification of data breaches, escalating to the Group Compliance and Operations Director as required, to ensure reportable breaches can be notified within the 72-hours required by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
Reviewing, developing and implementing data management policies and procedures across the Group, including templates for processes, for example data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), to ensure OIEG’s ongoing compliance with data protection legislation
To raise awareness of data management across the Group by developing and delivering training on data management legislation and OIEG’s processes, both in formal and informal settings
Provision of advice and guidance to staff and students, when required, to ensure data protection principles and laws continue to be applied
With the guidance of the Group Compliance and Operations Director, undertake audits to ensure the Group’s compliance with data protection laws, escalating concerns to the Group Compliance and Operations Director
Supported by the Compliance Coordinator, ensure data retention schedules and privacy notices are reviewed by departments at least annually so that they remain current

UKVI/Immigration Compliance:

Review Immigration related policies across the Group (in relation to Admissions, Attendance monitoring, Reporting of students etc) to ensure compliance with UKVI rules
Plan and coordinate a programme of activity (including leading audits and developing and delivering training) to ensure that Group is fully compliant in relation to the recruitment, admissions, registration and monitoring of international students as required under Student Route of the UK Immigration Regulations, thereby retaining the Group’s Student Sponsor Licence.
Provide specialist advice and support to colleagues in relevant departments involved in the processing of CAS statements
Oversight of activities within other departments to design and manage operational functions, ensuring Group processes align with strict UKVI regulations and requirements and within the framework of the Group strategy; raising awareness in relation to any areas of weakness or potential non-compliance and pro-actively working with colleagues to improve processes
Assess the institutional risk related to UKVI and develop, implement and monitor risk mitigation strategies.
Support the Group Compliance and Operations Director with coordinating the Group’s annual licence submissions, relying on analysing and interpreting of management information, trends and proactively sourcing additional information to ensure that the Group maintains its sponsorship licence.

Eligibility to live and work in the UK
Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent

Qualifications

Degree
A Data Protection qualification desirable

Experience and knowledge

Experience of the UK Higher or Further Education Sector
Experience of developing and reviewing policies
Good understanding of GDPR and other relevant Data Protection Legislation
Experience of either UKVI Compliance or Safeguarding
Previous Experience of working in a Safeguarding/Data Protection or Immigration Compliance role at a UK HE Provider
