Farm Manager
We are looking for a qualified farm manager who will be responsible for the management and general maintenance of our farms. The farm manager will supervise the fertilizing, planting, spraying, cultivating and harvesting procedures of crops.
Responsibilities
- Will be responsible keeping farm financial records up to date.
- Engaging in practical activities. e.g., driving tractors, operating machinery, spraying fields, etc
- Arranging the for maintenance and repair of farm buildings. machinery and equipment
- Planning activities for casual staff, mentoring and monitoring them
- Supervising vendors and service providers to perform duties according to protocols
- Planning finances and production to maintain farm progress against budget parameters
- Ensuring that farm activities comply with government regulations.
- Responsible for applying health and safety standards across the farm estate
- Protecting the environment and maintaining biodiversity
- Understanding the implications of the weather and making contingency plans
- Making sure that farm products are ready for deadlines
- Ensuring that the production process is being done according assigned cultivation protocols
- Ensuring that farm work is done carried out according to set timelines
- Regularly scouting fields for anomalies and pests.
- Sending reports and updates of ongoing work as required
- Will be charged with keeping inventory on assigned farm
- Mapping out, surveying, and scouting of the farmland
- Will be responsible for the supervision of permanent and casual farm labourers
- Will be in charge of the security and safety of all farm employees, tools and equipment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science or related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercial farm management (50+ acres)
- Significant Project Management experience.
- Superior research, analytical, planning, organizational skills, and detail-orientation.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently, exercise mature professional judgment, and use discretion.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
