Full Stack Engineer — Internal Tools
We are on a journey to help the next million creators, publishers, and companies scale and monetize their audiences. beehiiv is already home to thousands of the most popular newsletters in the world, and we’re only 18 months old! We hit $1M ARR in January of 2023, and just surpassed $3M ARR in June 📈.
We’re a small, close-knit team of 8 full-stack engineers, a QA engineer and a product manager, and we’re looking to add an engineer to help create and then own our internal tooling. We believe that an oft under-looked advantage of technology companies like beehiiv is our ability to create phenomenal tools and applications for internal use, enabling us to scale users without growing internal support teams at the same rate, and we’re looking for an experienced engineer to help lay the groundwork to build those for our team members at beehiiv.
We currently use a fragmented collection of Retool applications, BI tools like blazer and some ad hoc admin pages. As our first internal tools engineer you will rationalize those systems and be a force multiplier across the organization, building tools to help our team members do their jobs as efficiently and quickly as possible.
Technologies we work with:
- Ruby on Rails
- React
- Typescript
- Redis, PostgreSQL, and SQL
Ideally you will have:
- 3+ years of experience with javascript or typescript and Ruby on Rails or similar dynamic frameworks
- Experience building maintainable and scalable internal tools using Retool or similar providers.
- A basic understanding of SQL and REST APIs. You won’t generally need to build complex databases but you’ll need to be proficient at accessing them
- A high level of empathy for your users and impatience with inefficient workflows.
Nice to have:
- Experience working on support teams for SaaS technology products
- Experience working with email at scale. I.e. knowledge of DMARC, SPF and DKIM
What you will be responsible for
- Building and maintaining internal applications that make it easy and efficient for us to triage customer tickets and understand our customers use cases.
