Payroll Manager
About The Role
Contract (Day rate)
With over 200 employees and huge growth plans, we recognise the importance of having a great Payroll Manager. As such we’re looking for a motivated and confident individual to join and lead the payroll at Bark over a 6 month period. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the improvement and automation of our payroll process. This includes managing the timely and accurate processing of employee salaries, benefits, and equity shares for all international locations. You’ll will work closely with the HR and finance teams to ensure that all payroll-related tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage the payroll process for all international locations, including calculating and processing employee salaries and benefits, and ensuring timely and accurate payment
- Help us automate processes
- Administer and manage equity share plans, including the tracking and vesting of shares and the calculation of related payroll deductions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records and employee files
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including tax and employment laws, in all international locations
- Collaborate with the HR and finance teams to resolve payroll-related issues and improve processes and systems
- Prepare reports and analyses as needed, including payroll budgets and variance reports
- Stay informed about developments in payroll laws and best practices, and provide recommendations for updates and improvements to management
- Ensure all starter (registering new employees with HMRC) and leaver paperwork is processed in a timely manner, depending on local requirements.
- Responsible for filing P45s, P60s, P11Ds et
- Corresponding with HMRC where necessary

Desired Skills and Experience
Required Skills And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field
- International experience – Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including tax and employment laws, in multiple international locations (US, Europe, Australia)
- Extensive experience in payroll management, preferably in a startup or fast-growing business
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with payroll software and systems, including experience with equity share plans
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
