Full Job Description
Mission / Core purpose of the Job :
Under supervision of the Supervisor OS & Database to perform the following systems responsibilities:
Perform systems administration tasks and ensure compliance to IT systems policies
Ensure that Operating Systems function at high level of performance
Manage changes on systems in accordance with IT change management policy
Ensure that systems configuration are up-to-date
Ensure that Backup and Restore activities are undertaken in compliance with approved system backup strategies
Ensure successful recovery of systems in case of major faults by performing regular testing of file systems backup
Manage the daily operations of all Unix based systems under his direct responsibility and take preventive actions to ensure high availability of services
Perform the daily maintenance routines on all critical services platforms
Provide systems first level support to all application owners within the IT department
Systems capacity planning
Track, monitor and report on server’s capacity: identify drivers of database capacity in coordination with DBAs, monitor and report them to line management on monthly basis and propose forecasts for system resources.
Incident and problem management
Handle incidents and problems in accordance to the underlying IT operations and incident management policy.
Liaise with database specialists and suppliers on ( e.g. Oracle, MS SQL servers, MongoDB, etc.) in order to resolve faults and problems affecting system performance and availability
Escalate to line management whenever the agreed SLA has not been respected by the suppliers.
Close all audit findings on servers in order to reduce business risk and minimize/avoid revenue loss
Implement best operational processes aimed at reducing the amount of findings ( PWC , Internal auditors) against the session and therefore avoids unnecessary business risks
Key Performance Areas:
1. Systems Administration: VM and Hypervisor servers administration in order to ensure services availability
Manage the day to day systems administration activities.
Monitor file systems space usage of all critical host servers.
Perform clean-up procedures in order to remove unused spaces and system resources.
Perform system tuning and performance auditing and identify the reasons of poor system performance
Propose and recommend plans for improving system performance.
Managing logical user access to all Unix based
Manage all hypervisors and virtual servers
2. Services performance: Improvement of servers’ performance
Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance procedures
Integrate all servers into Orion and spot faults and problems before they affect system availability.
Proactive monitoring of system load of database servers
Ensure of daily, weekly and monthly effective backups are available for all servers
Conduct a regular restore testing of all servers on test beds
3.Systems and project support: The delivery of first line and Second line system support to system specialists within the IT department
Provide support to all IT units’ application owners
Troubleshoot problems and faults that occur on Linux OS (OEL, RHEL, CentOS) and implement solutions.
Write up and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for systems administration
Document configuration changes on all OS and servers
Install, configure VMs and carry out integration tasks following PMO instructions on projects
Ensure to take all approvals for accounts used on projects and their documentation
Design and maintain system architectures after major integrations
4. Systems capacity planning: The planning of systems capacity in order to ensure systems have enough capacity for data growth as per agreed retention
Track, monitor and report on systems capacity: identify drivers of servers’ capacity in coordination with DBAs and application owners, monitor and report them to line management on monthly basis and propose forecasts for system resources.
5.Incident and problem management: The management of incident and problem to ensure fast detection and resolution of system problems as per IT incident and problem management policy
Handle incidents and problems in accordance to IT operations and incident management policy.
Liaise with DBAs and suppliers (e.g. Oracle, MS SQL, MongoDB, Sybase etc.) in order to resolve faults and problems affecting system performance and availability
Escalate to line management whenever the agreed SLA has not been respected by the suppliers
6. Auditing: The implementation of IT audit recommendations in order to align with IT best practices and prevent revenue loss
Manage the security aspects of systems.
Activate system logs of prepaid databases and monitor and detect any illegal change in the database
Ensure that all system logs are available for auditing
Develop an automated process to detect and notify automatically any illegal change.

Minimum educational qualification required
Bachelor degree or equivalent engineering diploma in IS
Minimum years relevant experience required
Minimum 5 years’ experience as system Administrator
Minimum of 3 years’ experience of Linux administration
Very good skilled in Linux administration
Very good skill in Hypervisors management (HyperV, VMWARE, RHEL KVM, XEN etc)
Skills of implementing DOCKERS and container based solutions (Kubernates etc)
Very good problem analysis and solving skills
Good knowledge of Linux & Microsoft operating system
Good knowledge in Active Directory and GPO
Good Knowledge in Cloud Systems
Good knowledge in PowerShell Scripts written
Mobile Security, Data Security, Application Security, Data Analysis
Good knowledge on monitoring tools (Orion, ZABBIX)
Knowledge and experience with IT Service Management as promoted by set of best practices (ITIL, eTOM, COBIT) and certification will be highly recommended
