JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for converting written or spoken English to Chinese and vice-versa. Ensures translated materials accurately conveys the original meaning, tone, and style. Researches industry-specific terminology to ensure consistency and quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Attends meetings between company and local customers or clients and translates information for both parties.
• Accurately translates written or spoken English materials into Chinese language and vice versa.
• Researches industry-specific terminology and uses specialized translation tools and software to facilitate the translation process.
• Writes minutes of meetings and converts to both English and Chinese text for accurate and easy comprehension.
• Proofreads and edits translated texts to ensure the highest quality and accuracy.
• Ensures meaning, tone and style of the original content is maintained during the translation process.
• Conducts research and uses reference materials to ensure accurate translation.
• Stays updated with industry trends, terminologies, and language usage.
• Handles confidential and sensitive information and maintains client confidentiality.
• Liaises with colleagues to ensure translations are true to the original meaning.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in any field.
• Diploma of proficiency in Chinese language

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft office tools.
• Proficiency in the use of translator software.
• Technology savvy.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bilingual proficiency in Chinese and English language.
• Good grammar and vocabulary skills.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Chinese translator in a professional setting
