About The Role

Our tutors play an irreplaceable role within the company, supporting our students to achieve everything they’re looking to get out of our course and platform, whether it’s chasing that A* grade or moving from a D to a B.We created Up Learn by using the latest research in cognitive science and since it’s our AI-powered courses that do the majority of the teaching, our tutors don’t need to spend time planning sessions, marking homework or delivering lessons. Instead, we provide tutoring support via our live chat messenger service, acting as role models to our students, motivating and inspiring them, as well as delivering a world-class experience that has a life-changing impact on their educational achievements, as well as their lives.If you do well, this role offers the rare opportunity to learn about every single part of the customer experience department, providing a solid stepping stone to progress into a content, product or customer-focused career within the company or outside it.If you’re up for the challenge, come and join us on this adventure!

About You

You are an exceptionally capable, highly driven and naturally empathetic individual who cares about our mission of pushing the frontiers of effective education, and having a tangible impact on thousands of young people. You have a passion for education and a hunger to learn about how you can deliver the best possible customer experience supporting our students, parents and teachers as they navigate through our platform.This fully remote, freelance role allows you to manage how many hours you do and when you do them, enabling you to easily fit in your other commitments e.g. travelling, university, new parents looking for flexibility, a second job to top up your income. You would be joining a diverse team of 40 tutors with a wide range of backgrounds and interests. We put a lot of effort into building a hard-working but caring environment and are looking for individuals to add value to our super smart, fiercely passionate and incredibly friendly customer experience team.

Responsibilities

• Answer subject-specific student questions via email or chat, related to the Up Learn course content or other external sources
• Help customers receive value from Up Learn as quickly as possible by improving their initial experience
• Effectively get to the root of the knowledge gap by asking the right questions and engaging with the student
• Exhibit empathy and understanding whilst providing patient and concise guidance on where and how the student can improve
• Support the student with additional subject-specific hints and tips on general learning
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience, ensuring that every student who has a conversation with us leaves with a ‘wow’ feeling
• Reassure, motivate, build confidence and independence
• Work with internal teams to resolve non-tutoring enquiries and issues
• Inspire customers to become ambassadors and evangelists for Up Learn

Requirements

If you don’t meet every requirement below but you still believe you’re the right person for the role and are willing to learn, we strongly encourage you to apply

• A solid academic track record in at least two Up Learn subjects: Economics, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology
• Outstanding communication skills, written and spoken. You enjoy communicating with people through any medium (phone/text/email)
• Strong empathy for others, particularly students – you constantly put yourselves in other people’s shoes to understand how they feel and think, and interact with them in the best possible way
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Passion for education and a hunger to learn how you can deliver the best possible customer experience
• Thrive in a culture of feedback, always looking to grow and improve
