Overview

The University of Strathclyde offers the Diamond Jubilee Research Scholarships to support outstanding postgraduate research students in the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. These scholarships cover full tuition fees for international and UK students, encouraging high-quality research across a wide range of disciplines. The award applies for the full duration of study: up to 3 years for full-time and 6 years for part-time students (part-time available only to Home/RUK students). Please note, the scholarship covers tuition fees only, and recipients must fund living costs independently.

Eligible Students

• Applicants with Home/RUK or International fee status

• Full-time or part-time students (part-time only for Home/RUK)

• Strong academic record: First-Class undergraduate degree and/or Master’s with Merit/Distinction (or equivalent)

• Evidence of research potential and fit with faculty research strengths

Value/Benefits

• No stipend included – applicants must fund living costs independently

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Hold or have applied for a place in a relevant doctoral program by the scholarship closing date

• Demonstrate strong research potential through a research proposal

• Have research interests aligned with one of the departments/subject areas in the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences

• Subjects include:

  • Education, Applied Autism Studies, Law, History, History with Genealogical Studies, English, Creative Writing, Journalism (Media and Communications), Gender Studies, French, Italian, Spanish, Social Work, Social Policy, Public Health and Health Policy, Criminology, Politics, Policy Analysis, Psychology, Physical Activity and Health, Obesity and Public Health, Physical Activity and Public Health, Counselling, Speech and Language Therapy, Applied Linguistics

• Applicants must have an offer of study by the closing date or a supervisor’s support letter if no offer yet
