We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Localization Manager to own and scale our global presence. You will be the single point of contact for all international readiness, ensuring a seamless and localized experience for our customers across all products and communication channels. This role requires a strong technical mindset to build and manage the localization infrastructure and work directly with engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Localization Strategy & Technical Leadership
- System Ownership: Act as the primary administrator and expert for our Translation Management System, Phrase, driving optimal configuration, automation, and best practices.
- Developer Collaboration: Work directly with Product Developers and Engineers to manage the end-to-end integration of the TMS into our software development lifecycle (SDLC). This includes handling string extraction, version control, and continuous localization workflows.
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee and implement all technical aspects of localization, including language file formats, pseudo-localization, and ensuring the product is ready for new languages and regional complexities (e.g., currency formatting, date/time, cultural adaptability).
- Workflow Optimization: Identify and implement scalable improvements to current localization processes to increase speed, efficiency, and quality (e.g., leveraging Machine Translation, quality checks).
Project & Team Management
- End-to-End Project Execution: Manage the entire localization lifecycle for new features and global marketing campaigns, from scoping and budgeting to QA and deployment.
- Team & Vendor Oversight: Direct and manage a team of internal or external resources (e.g., developers, linguistic vendors, and translation partners) to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery.
- Project Tracking: Utilize Jira and other project management tools (e.g., Confluence, Trello) to maintain clear transparency, manage deadlines, and report on localization progress to stakeholders.
- New Market Entry: Lead the operational plan for introducing new language markets, including vendor selection, tooling setup, and establishing cultural review cycles.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Product: Ensure all UI/UX text, in-app content, and feature documentation are culturally and technically accurate.
- Marketing: Partner with the Marketing team to localize website content, landing pages, email campaigns, and advertising copy (transcreation) to maximize regional impact.
- Support: Oversee the localization of Help Center content, FAQs, and support documentation to enable global customer success.
- Quality Assurance (QA): Define and manage the linguistic and functional QA processes for all localized assets prior to launch.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of dedicated experience in a Localization Manager or Senior Localization Project Manager role, preferably within a SaaS or high-growth tech environment.
- Proven, hands-on experience as a power user and administrator of Phrase TMS (or a similar modern TMS like Smartling, Lokalise).
- Demonstrable Technical/Developer Mindset: Basic proficiency or strong conceptual understanding of technical localization elements (e.g., resource files/keys, APIs, GitHub, i18n/L10n best practices).
- Expertise in Jira for project management, ticket tracking, and creating custom localization workflows.
- Strong experience managing localization across both Product (Software) and Marketing content.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams (Engineers) and business stakeholders (Marketing, Product).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex, simultaneous projects in a fast-paced, agile environment.
