Platform Engineer at Xapo Bank, Remote

As a Platform Engineer at Xapo, you would be joining a team whose core mission is to improve and maintain Xapo’s cloud-native platform. The focus is on enhancing self-serve functionality and driving automation wherever possible. Your role is to help empower Xapo’s developers by making the platform more efficient, reliable, and easier to use, allowing them to ship products faster and with greater confidence. This position offers a significant opportunity to learn and grow by contributing directly to the systems that increase developer velocity and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

The team’s primary responsibility is to act as stewards and enhancers of the existing developer platform.

The main goals of the team are:

• To maintain and improve a cloud-native platform.
• To expand the platform’s self-service capabilities, allowing engineering teams to manage their resources and workflows independently.
• To aggressively automate manual processes to reduce toil, increase reliability, and improve developer efficiency.
• To ensure the platform remains highly observable, scalable, and secure as it evolves.
• Monitoring and proactively managing the infrastructure to meet its requirements.
• Ensure continuous service availability and operational integrity 24/7, which includes participation in a compensated on-call rotation.

We rely on the following tools and technologies.

• Terraform
• AWS (ECS, RDS, SQS, VPC, KMS)
• GCP (Cloud run, Cloud functions, Datastream, BigQuery)
• Docker
• GitHub and GitHub Actions
• Coralogix/PagerDuty

Skills needed

• 1-3 years of relevant working experience.

A foundational understanding of the technologies that power an automated, self-service platform is essential. This includes:

Infrastructure as Code: 

• TerraformCloud Providers: Primarily AWS (ECS, RDS, SQS, etc.) and some GCP (Cloud Run, BigQuery, etc.)
• Containerization: DockerCI/CD & Automation: Possible experience with pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
• Monitoring & Observability: Tools like Coralogix or similar.
• Scripting: We use Python and Bash for the scripts we integrate into our infrastructure or develop to support our automated tasks.
• We welcome a person who is able and eager to contribute to solving common platform issues using established procedures and, more importantly, to identify opportunities for automation within those solutions. This involves thinking beyond the immediate fix to prevent future manual work.

Teamwork & Communication

Xapo Device Policy

Consultants joining Xapo Bank must comply with the Xapo Device Policy, which governs the use of corporate-approved laptops under Corporate-Owned, Personally Purchased Device (reimbursed up to $1,500) or Corporate-Owned, Personally Enabled Device (personal device with enforced security controls).
All devices must meet security requirements, enroll in Xapo’s Mobile Device Management (MDM), and adhere to compliance rules. COPPD devices remain Xapo property with buyback options upon exit. COPED users agree to data control measures, including mandatory corporate data wipes.
Compliance with the Xapo Device Policy is mandatory for all consultants, onboarding will not proceed without adherence to the policy.
