Overview:
The Allan and Nesta Ferguson Scholarship 2026 is awarded on the basis of academic merit to support high-achieving students from low-income or lower-middle-income countries. The scholarship contributes towards tuition fees for full-time Master’s programmes in the College of Humanities at SOAS. It does not cover maintenance, accommodation, or pre-sessional courses.

Eligibility Criteria:

Resident in a low-income or lower-middle-income country (World Bank classification)
-
Preferably from a low-income household
-
Hold a first-class undergraduate degree

Applied to a SOAS Master’s programme (offer not required by scholarship deadline)

Meet English language requirements of the SOAS offer

Application Process:

Apply for a Master’s programme at SOAS

Apply for the scholarship via the admissions portal by 12 noon (UK local time) on 6 February 2026
Selection Process:

Candidates assessed on academic merit based on degree results and personal statement

Shortlisting and awarding expected by end of March 2026

Successful candidates contacted first; unsuccessful candidates notified after all awards allocated

Award may reopen in April 2026 if no suitable candidates are nominated
