Overview

Nankai University, one of China’s top research universities, invites international students to apply for its 2026 undergraduate programs through a unique “1+3” model — one foundational academic year at the School of International Education, followed by three years of specialized major study.
Upon completing all requirements, students receive a recognized graduation certificate.
All Chinese-taught programs require HSK Level 6 (score ≥180) before graduation.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy, and born before September 1, 2008.

  • Must possess a senior high school diploma with excellent academic results.

  • Required Chinese proficiency: HSK Level 4 (score ≥180).

  • Must comply with the Ministry of Education’s Document No. 12 (2020) for foreign applicants.

Program Components

  • Duration: 4 years (5 years for medical programs).

  • Study Path:

    • 1st Year – Foundation studies at the School of International Education.

    • 2nd–4th Years – Specialized studies in chosen major.

  • Program selection: Applicants can choose up to two preferred majors, except for Business Economics and Business Administration, which only accept first-choice applicants.

Application Requirements

  1. Valid passport (expiry not earlier than Sept 1, 2027).

  2. High school diploma and transcripts (notarized in Chinese or English).

  3. CSCA exam score report.

  4. Personal statement in Chinese or English.

  5. HSK Level 4 certificate (score ≥180).

  6. One recommendation letter.

  7. Medical report (after November 2025).

  8. Financial proof and a non-criminal record certificate.

  9. Supplementary documents showing academic or extracurricular achievements.

📌 All materials must be in Chinese or English; incomplete applications will not be processed.

Application Process

  1. Take the CSCA Exam: Register early via www.csca.cn.

  2. Submit Application: Apply online at nankai.at0086.cn.

  3. Review & Interview: Shortlisted applicants will attend an interview assessing language and academic readiness.

  4. Admission & Payment:

    • Pay a 400 RMB non-refundable application fee and tuition to confirm admission.

    • Successful applicants receive Admission Notice and JW201/202 Visa Form electronically by July 2026.

Scholarship Opportunities

  1. Chinese Government Scholarship (Type A):
    Apply through the Chinese Embassy/Consulate and Nankai’s online system (Nov 2025 – Feb 2026).
    Pre-admission from Nankai is required.

  2. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship:
    For International Chinese Language Education majors only. Apply via cis.chinese.cn.

  3. Tianjin Government Scholarship / Study-at-NKU Scholarship:
    Indicate interest in the online form. Covers tuition and other expenses.
    Deadline: May 30, 2026.

Visa Application

  • Admission and visa documents will be released from July 2026.

  • Students must apply for an X1 student visa using their Admission Notice and JW201/202 Form, then convert it to a residence permit within 30 days of arrival.

  • Fraudulent documents will lead to immediate revocation of admission.
