The UdeM Exemption Scholarship Program is a major tuition-reduction initiative by the Université de Montréal (UdeM) designed to make higher education in Canada more accessible to international students.

What the Scholarship Covers

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be an international student
    ❌ (Except French and French-speaking Belgian students)

  • Have received an offer of admission to UdeM

  • Be enrolled in a degree programme (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD)

  • Not be enrolled in short programs (certificate, minor, major, preparatory year, short programs)

  • Hold a valid CAQ and study permit

  • Be continuously enrolled full-time

  • Not benefit from any other tuition exemption scheme

Selection Criteria

  • Based on academic excellence (transcripts used for assessment)

  • No separate scholarship application required

How to Apply

  1. Apply for admission to a programme at Université de Montréal

  2. Receive an offer of admission

  3. Accept the offer

  4. UdeM automatically assesses eligibility

  5. You receive an email confirmation stating:

    • Eligibility status

    • Scholarship level

    • Amount awarded

No separate scholarship application is required

Duration

  • Valid for the entire duration of the study programme

  • Must maintain full-time enrolment and valid status

Additional Notes

  • Scholarship is automatically processed

  • Amount is deducted directly from tuition fees

  • Can be withdrawn if eligibility conditions are no longer met

  • Designed to attract top international talent

  • Applies from Fall 2020 admissions onward
