Overview

The GREAT Scholarships 2026, funded by the British Council in partnership with the GREAT Britain Campaign, offer international students the opportunity to study a one-year postgraduate Master’s degree in the UK.
For the 2026 academic year, the University of Edinburgh is offering 3 scholarships specifically for students from Ghana, Mexico, and Thailand.

Scholarship Value

• £10,000 tuition fee contribution

• Applicable to one-year, full-time, on-campus Master’s programmes

Eligible Nationalities

Applicants must be nationals and residents of:

• 🇬🇭 Ghana

• 🇲🇽 Mexico

• 🇹🇭 Thailand

Eligible Programmes

• Selected one-year on-campus MSc/Master’s programmes

• Programme lists are country-specific (separate lists for Ghana, Mexico, and Thailand)

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Hold an offer (or be applying) for an eligible Master’s programme at the University of Edinburgh

• Be starting studies in 2026

• Have achieved or expect to achieve the equivalent of a UK First-Class Honours degree

• Demonstrate strong academic merit

How to Apply

1. Apply for an eligible Master’s programme at the University of Edinburgh

2. Gain access to MyEd / EUCLID (may take up to 5 working days after applying)

3. Complete the online GREAT Scholarship application

4. Submit before the deadline

Key Dates

• Application deadline: 1 May 2026 (23:59 UK time)

• Results notification: End of June / early July 2026
