Summary:
Are you a problem-solver and a tech enthusiast who loves making development teams happy, efficient, and productive? If so, you might be the DevX Engineer we’re looking for. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the developer experience and streamlining our development workflow. From automated build processes to maintaining internal tools, you’ll be at the heart of our development efforts, working closely with developers, QA managers, and the SRE team. If you’re passionate about taking our development tooling to the next level, we want you on our team!
Duties:
As a DevX Engineer at Midnight, your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with development teams to enhance the developer experience and streamline the development workflow.
- Creating, maintaining, documenting, and optimizing automated build processes.
- Developing and maintaining internal tools to support development or build workflows, including advanced systems to improve our build and development processes across the organization.
- Setting up and maintaining a functional and effective development build environment in collaboration with the development team.
- Supporting the QA team in defining continuous testing processes and validation pipelines.
- Contributing to the administration of the source version control system, managing users, groups, permissions, and general instance configuration.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive the adoption of new tools and technologies that improve the overall development lifecycle.
Requirements
Key Competencies:
To excel in this role, you should:
- Have extensive experience using Git.
- Be familiar with tools and technologies such as Github Actions (or similar CI/CD systems), Docker, and Nix.
- Enjoy collaborating with various functional teams and helping them solve diverse problems.
- Thrive on being a “force multiplier” for other groups within the organization.
Education / Experience:
To be a successful candidate, you should have:
- Professional experience with the programming languages we use (Rust and JavaScript/TypeScript) and their associated build, packaging, and deployment tools.
- Unix system administration experience.
- Prior experience working in internal tooling teams or SRE/DevOps roles.
- Proficiency in working with leading cloud service providers, including AWS.
