WaterAid is an international not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping the poor and marginalised people break free from poverty and disease, and change their lives for good through improved access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene. Since 1995, WaterAid has dedicatedly worked with the governments and people of Nigeria to support the implementation of sustainable Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH interventions and programmes. The FIT team is tasked to maintain highest standards of stewardships and accountability by developing tools, processes and systems for recording, tracking and reporting financial transactions in a transparent and systematic manner; supporting financial capacity building for WaterAid staff and partners and potentially to wider WASH sector actors to achieve sector strengthening goals and for ensuring availability of finances required to deliver our work.
The Finance & IT team will also be responsible for ensuring WANG optimizes informational technology solutions to achieve other organizational goals in programme monitoring, evaluation and reporting; people and logistics management, fundraising and communications etc.
Job purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to support the Finance and IT functions within our organization. This role will involve assisting the IT Officer in managing and providing support to system end-users for their hardware and software needs. Additionally, the role will encompass various finance-related tasks, providing a well rounded experience in both Finance and IT operations within a non-profit organization. This position offers hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our operations.
AccountabilitiesÂ
Technical SupportÂ
- Create suppliers on the digital app.
- Follow up with actions regarding digital app support.
- Provide hands-on support to users on raising payment.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining IT systems and infrastructure.
- Assist in providing technical support to staff and users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Prioritize and schedule problems, escalate problems (when required) to the IT Officer for further resolution.
- Assist in managing IT support services to ensure optimal performance and
availability. - Support the implementation of new systems and technologies under the
guidance of the IT Officer.
System and ProceduresÂ
- Act as the secondary point of contact for hardware problems, maintenance, and repairs.
- Perform post-resolution follow-up requests.
- Perform quarterly preventative maintenance, including checking users’ OneDrive to ensure it’s being used and syncing.
- Assist in identifying training needs for users and providing support and training sessions.
- Assist in monitoring and ensuring adherence to IT policies, including internet, email, and security policies.
- Assist in developing and disseminating IT best practices.
Learning and DevelopmentÂ
- Stay updated with advancements in information technology and make recommendations for improvements.
- Assist in facilitating staff training and capacity building in the use of new innovations and ICT tools.
ReportingÂ
- Assist in preparing monthly reports on IT-related activities.
- Support in managing and updating inventory of IT assets.
- Participate in monthly, quarterly and year-end stocktaking activities, reconciling physical counts with records.
- Provide regular feedback to the IT Officer on IT issues and initiatives, as well as steps taken to address challenges.
- Assist in monitoring the IT budget and reporting on budget implementation monthly to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Person specification
Essential criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Strong interest in IT support and troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of Windows PCs, servers, printers, and mobile devices.
- Good knowledge of network and system security.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing technology.
