Job Title: Engineering Manager
vidIQ seeks a highly motivated, hands-on Engineering Manager with a passion for building exceptional products and empowering creators to succeed on YouTube.
As a key leadership figure at vidIQ, you’ll be responsible for guiding cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact, scalable solutions that help content creators grow on YouTube. Our Engineering Managers don’t just manage people – they are active participants in driving product vision, strategy, and execution. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a small team of 2-5 software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
- Drive technical decisions while remaining hands-on with code review and system design
- Collaborate closely with product managers to shape product strategy and roadmap based on creator needs
- Manage project planning, sprint cycles, and resource allocation to deliver high-quality features on schedule
- Ensure operational excellence through monitoring, performance optimization, and incident management
- Conduct regular 1:1s with team members, supporting their professional growth and career development
- Be accountable for delivery estimates and shipping with high velocity, and advocating for tradeoffs with product and design stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- High energy, self-motivation, unwavering commitment to delivering results!
- 2+ years of experience managing development teams
- 5+ years of relevant development experience
- Expertise or advanced knowledge of our technology stack components
- Familiar with AWS
- Familiarity with LLMs and basics of integrating AI technologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – required for a fully remote team’s collaboration
- Track record of successful project delivery and team leadership
- Experience working in an Agile environment and knowledge of related methodologies/frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
- Leadership, team building, and mentoring skills
- Effective project and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- A person who is empathetic toward the creator economy, with a deep appreciation for the challenges and goals of YouTube creators.
- Familiarity with Google/YouTube APIs and OAuth integration
- Familiarity with Amplitude, Flagr, Prometheus, Cloudflare
- History of mentoring and growing engineering talent
