David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health 2025 Overview

The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL) offers the David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health to outstanding applicants enrolling in the MSc in Global Plant Health at the University of East Anglia (UEA). There are two types of scholarships: Full MSc Scholarship and 50% Fee Scholarship.

David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health 2025 Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Have an offer for the MSc in Global Plant Health at UEA.
• Meet nationality and residency requirements based on income classification by the Overseas Development Agency Development Assistance Committee (DAC) list.

Scholarship Categories

1. The David Sainsbury Full MSc Scholarship

Covers:

• Full tuition fees (£35,450 for international students).
• Maintenance grant (amount to be determined, previously £19,237 for 2024-25).
• Additional £4,000 for travel costs (with valid receipts).

Eligibility:

• Open to students from least-developed, low-income, or lower-middle-income countries (as per the DAC list 2024-25).
• Limited slots available; early application is recommended.

2. The David Sainsbury 50% Fee Scholarship

Covers:

• 50% of tuition fees (i.e., £17,975 for UK students or £35,450 for international students).
• Deducts any other awards/scholarships covering more than 50% of the fee.

Eligibility:

• Open to students from upper-middle-income or high-income countries (including the UK).
• Limited slots available; early application is recommended.

Application Process

• No separate application is required; all eligible students are automatically considered.
• Evaluation is based on:
  • Academic excellence and awards.
  • Knowledge/experience in molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, statistics, and laboratory skills.
  • Potential for independent study.
