Africa Epidemic Services (AES) – Public Health Informatics (PHI) Fellowship 2025 Overview
The Africa CDC launched the Africa Epidemic Services (AES) Fellowship with three specialized tracks: Epidemiology, Laboratory Leadership, and Public Health Informatics (PHI). The PHI track aims to equip African professionals with advanced competencies in digital health and data science to lead and innovate within health organizations across the continent. This two-year program combines practical training with virtual and in-person sessions and will begin in June 2025, selecting 20 fellows from across Africa.
Africa Epidemic Services (AES) – Public Health Informatics (PHI) Fellowship 2025 Eligibility
Applicants must:

Be a citizen of an African Union Member State.

Hold at least a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
-
Health-related fields, or
-
Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology.

Have:
-
At least 3 years of relevant experience (for Master’s holders), or
-
5 years of relevant experience (for BSc holders).

Have interdisciplinary experience:
-
If the primary degree is in health, experience with tech or informatics projects.

If the primary degree is in tech, experience in health/clinical/epidemiological contexts.

Be preferably employed or affiliated with a Ministry of Health (MoH), National Public Health Institute (NPHI), or a related organization.

Duration: 2 years

Structure: 80% practical learning, 20% didactic sessions

Format: In-person and virtual learning at host institutions (MoH, NPHIs, Africa CDC HQ)

Applicants must submit:
