Western Union Global Fellowship Program 2025 Overview

The Western Union Global Fellowship Program is a fully funded, impact-driven initiative that empowers entrepreneurs and community leaders from marginalized, refugee, or forcibly displaced communities. Powered by Watson Institute and supported by Western Union, the program equips Fellows with the tools, mentorship, and global network needed to scale their ventures and maximize social impact.

The 2025 cohort runs from August 25 to December 16, 2025, featuring weekly virtual workshops, immersive experiences, and a final pitch summit. Fellows will receive financial support to run a Basecamp—a local impact workshop in their community.

Western Union Global Fellowship Program 2025 Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be directly impacted by or support refugee, displaced, or highly marginalized communities.

• Be actively running a nonprofit or for-profit venture with an established model and clear community impact.

• Demonstrate readiness to scale their impact.

• Be based in or creating impact in any of the following countries:

  • Nigeria, Uganda, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica, Lithuania, or the Philippines.

Western Union Global Fellowship Program 2025 Benefits

• 100% Fully Funded: No cost to participate.

• Leadership Training: Weekly online workshops (8–10 hrs/week).

• Mentorship: Personalized support from mentors and an Entrepreneur-in-Residence.

• Basecamp Stipend: Funding to host a local impact event.

• Professional Pitch Video: Support to refine and record a compelling pitch.

• Global Exposure: Access to Watson Institute’s network, including investors, funders, and leaders.

Application Requirements

• Complete the online application (takes about 30 minutes).

• Be available to commit 8–10 hours per week from August to December 2025.

• Ability to participate in virtual immersive sessions and the Virtual Summit on December 16, 2025.

• Propose and lead a Basecamp event within your local community.

Western Union Global Fellowship Program 2025 Selection Criteria

• Demonstrated personal connection to the issues faced by marginalized, refugee, or displaced communities.

• An operational venture with a clear social mission.

• High potential for scaling and long-term impact.

• Strong alignment with the fellowship’s goals and structure.

Restrictions

• Only applicants from or working in the eligible listed countries will be considered.

• Fellows must fully participate in all program sessions and events.

• English proficiency is required to engage in program content.

Application Process

1. Submit Online Application by the priority deadline: July 1, 2025 (rolling admissions afterward).

2. Application Review: Evaluated by Watson Institute’s Admissions Committee.

3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will attend a 20-minute Zoom interview.

4. Final Selection: Accepted fellows will be notified by July 25, 2025.

5. Program Start: August 25, 2025.
