MEXT IGP Special Quota Scholarship 2026 at Hokkaido University, Japan Overview
Hokkaido University’s Graduate School of Life Science is now accepting applications for the MEXT Scholarship: IGP Special Quota for October 2026 admission. This opportunity is part of the “Life Science Researcher Training Program for Solving Global Issues” and is open to international students pursuing Master’s or Doctoral studies in Life Sciences. The scholarship is funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan.

Applicants must be international students applying to Hokkaido University’s Graduate School of Life Science

Must hold a Bachelor’s degree for Master’s applicants, or a Master’s degree for Doctoral applicants

Must intend to study in the field of Life Sciences

Must be physically and mentally fit and meet MEXT eligibility requirements

Must contact and receive approval from a prospective supervisor before applying
