Applications are now open for the inaugural African Women in Data Science Fellowship by African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD). This transformative 12-month program is designed to strengthen the leadership and technical capacity of African women, leveraging data science to solve challenges in agrifood systems and climate resilience. The fellowship responds to Africa’s urgent need for data-driven leadership in tackling food insecurity and climate change and is tailored to empower African women from diverse sectors to lead impactful, evidence-based innovations.

Applicants must:

Be African women from Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, or Malawi

Have foundational experience in data-related work

Be motivated to apply data science to solve challenges in agriculture and climate resilience

Be working in government, academia, research, civil society, development agencies, or the private sector
