The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers U.S. citizens the chance to engage in graduate study, advanced research, or teaching English abroad. With partnerships in over 140 countries, Fulbright promotes mutual understanding through academic and cultural exchange. It is designed for recent graduates, graduate students, and early-career professionals from all fields.

Fulbright U.S. Student Scholarship Program 2026: Eligibility Criteria
. Must be a U.S. citizen (permanent residents are ineligible)
. Must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent by the grant start date
. Arts applicants without a BA must show four years of professional experience
. Must meet the language requirements for the host country and the award
. M.D. holders can apply for research but not clinical activities or residencies
. Preference given to candidates who:
. Have not lived in the host country for over 6 months
. Have not previously received a Fulbright grant (especially in recent years)
. Studied primarily in the U.S.
. Are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces

Important Notes
. Grants do not support medical training or patient care
. Fulbright benefits may be reduced if duplicated by another grant
. TESOL training is required for ETAs unless already certified
