Financial Reporting Analyst at Max Drive, Lagos, Nigeria
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Reporting Specialist with strong expertise in IFRS to lead the preparation and review of financial statements following international standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting, supporting audit processes, advising on complex IFRS matters, and driving improvements in reporting systems and processes.
What you’ll do:
IFRS-Compliant Financial Statement Preparation
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in full compliance with IFRS.
- Ensure accurate presentation and disclosure of financial results, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and statement of changes in equity.
- Assist with group consolidation, intercompany eliminations, and foreign currency translations under IFRS 10 and IAS 21.
Technical Accounting and IFRS Advisory
- Interpret and apply complex IFRS standards (e.g., IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IFRS 13, IFRS 10).
- Provide technical accounting support and impact analysis on transactions, contracts, and new business initiatives.
- Monitor IFRS updates and assess implications for company policies and financial reporting processes.
Audit Coordination and Compliance
- Support the external audit process by preparing audit schedules, responding to audit queries, and ensuring the timely resolution of any issues that arise.
- Ensure financial records and reports comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain appropriate supporting documentation and internal control procedures.
Reporting Systems and Process Improvements
- Support enhancements to the financial reporting system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) for accurate IFRS reporting.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance the quality and efficiency of financial reporting and compliance.
Cross-functional Support and Communication
- Collaborate with finance business partners, tax, treasury, legal, and operations to align on reporting requirements.
- Educate internal stakeholders on IFRS implications of new projects and transactions.
- Assist in training finance staff on technical accounting issues and IFRS updates.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification required: ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent, with a strong focus on IFRS.
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in financial reporting or external audit, with a focus on IFRS-based reporting.
- Experience working in or with multinational companies or in a Big 4 accounting firm is a strong advantage.
- Proficient in Excel and financial systems.
