Fully Funded Scholarship in Japan 2026: Overview
This scholarship supports outstanding international students pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Japanese graduate schools. It welcomes all nationalities and research fields, with applicants allowed to apply directly to the foundation without pre-selection from universities. Applications can also be submitted from abroad if the applicant has already secured admission to a Japanese graduate school.
Approximately 10 scholarships will be awarded for 2026.
Fully Funded Scholarship in Japan 2026: Eligibility
Applicants must:

Be foreign students enrolled in or accepted by a Japanese graduate school (Master’s or Doctoral).

Come from any nationality and academic discipline.

Submit applications directly to the foundation (no university nomination required).

Be available for document screening and interview(s) (interviews may be held in Tokyo or online).
Fully Funded Scholarship in Japan 2026: Benefits

Monthly stipend depending on degree length:
-
¥230,000 per month → for 1–2 years degree.

¥210,000 per month → for 3 years degree.
-
¥180,000 per month → for degrees beyond 3 years.

Funding continues for the minimum period required to complete the degree.

Coverage includes living expenses and can significantly support tuition costs.
Fellowship/Program Components

Research presentation video: Applicants must upload a 2-minute self-introduction movie explaining their research.

Direct foundation support (no university quota or filtering process).

Interviews conducted either in person (Tokyo) or via video call.
Application Requirements

Upload required documents (CV, transcripts, admission/acceptance letter, research plan).

A 2-minute research video presentation.

Save the generated PDF of the application form for later use when checking results.

Applicants will be judged on:

Commitment to successfully completing their Master’s/Doctoral programme.

Application Process

January 31, 2026 → Results of document screening announced on website.

February 2026 → Interview examination (Tokyo or online).

March 31, 2026 → Final results announced.
