GIAF Scholarship 2025 | Fully Funded Support for Children & Dependants of Nigerian Army Personnel: Overview

The Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru Foundation (GIAF) Scholarship was launched in memory of the late 21st Chief of Army Staff (COAS) to support the education of children and dependents of Nigerian Army personnel and veterans. Starting with the 2024/25 intake, the scholarship aims to provide financial aid to deserving students in Nigerian universities.

This initiative reflects GIAF’s commitment to building a better Nigeria by supporting vulnerable groups, promoting inclusivity, and investing in future leaders.

Eligibility

To qualify for the GIAF Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a child or dependant of serving, retired, or deceased Nigerian Army personnel.

  • Demonstrate exceptional academic performance (strong O’Level and JAMB results).

  • Apply from any of the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.

  • Meet GIAF’s inclusivity principles — with gender balance as a key priority.

Benefits

  • Financial support for tuition and educational expenses.

  • Equal opportunity for male and female applicants.

  • Empowerment of youths to access quality tertiary education.

  • Contribution towards developing Nigeria’s next generation of leaders.

Programme Components

The scholarship reflects GIAF’s humanitarian principles:

  • Humanity – Prioritizing welfare and education for vulnerable groups.

  • Impartiality – Open to all eligible dependants, regardless of background.
