The KTH Scholarship is a highly competitive tuition-free award offered by the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden’s leading technological university. The scholarship covers 100% of tuition fees for one- or two-year master’s programmes. Selection is based strictly on academic excellence and commitment to sustainable development.
In 2025, only 8% of applicants were selected (65 out of 803), making it one of Europe’s most prestigious master’s scholarships.

To qualify, applicants must:

• Be fee-paying students (non-EU/EEA).

• Apply for a KTH master’s programme as their first priority on universityadmissions.se.

• Pay the application fee.

• Meet all admission requirements for their chosen programme.

• Full tuition coverage for 1–2 years.

• Scholarship automatically continues to year 2 if academic performance in year 1 is satisfactory.

Note: The scholarship does NOT cover living expenses.

Programme Components / Eligible Programmes

You can apply for the KTH Scholarship for:

• All two-year KTH master’s programmes

• Joint master’s programmes in:

  • Molecular Techniques in Life Science

  • Biostatistics and Data Science

• One-year master’s in Architectural Lighting Design

Not eligible:

• Erasmus+ and EIT joint programmes

• Joint programme: Computer Simulations for Science and Engineering
  (But applicants can apply for the KTH Joint Programme Scholarship instead.)

Application Requirements

No extra documents are needed. The scholarship team retrieves your application materials from universityadmissions.se.
However, you must complete the online scholarship form when it opens.

Key factors considered:

• GPA/performance in previous studies

• Ranking of your university

• Work experience, research, publications, and awards

• A strong sustainability motivation

Selection Criteria

Candidates are assessed on:

1. Academic excellence (grades and university ranking)

2. Relevant experience

   • Research

   • Work experience

   • Teaching

   • Technical or scientific achievements

3. Motivation quality:
   You must clearly explain how your future career will advance sustainable development, aligned with KTH’s institutional mission.

1. Apply to a KTH Master’s programme via universityadmissions.se (choose KTH as first priority).

2. Pay the application fee.

3. Submit the KTH Scholarship application form (available on the KTH website when open).

4. Wait for scholarship results.

• 1 December 2025: Scholarship application opens

• 15 January 2026: Scholarship application closes

• 26 March 2026: Scholarship results announced
