Lund University Global Excellence Scholarship 2026 — Study in Sweden Tuition-Free: Overview

The Lund University Global Scholarship (LUGS) is a highly competitive, merit-based award offering partial or full tuition coverage for outstanding international students from non-EU/EEA countries applying to bachelor’s or master’s programs at Lund University, one of the world’s top 100 universities.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be citizens of non-EU/EEA countries (including outside Switzerland)

• Be required to pay tuition fees

• Apply for a degree program at Lund University as first choice via universityadmissions.se

• Demonstrate strong academic excellence and program fit

Not eligible if:
❌ Cannot meet Swedish living expense requirements
❌ Lund University is not listed as first choice
❌ Do not meet program admission requirements

Benefits

• Covers part or full tuition fees

• Award does not reflect ranking or merit level but is based on faculty/program budget

• Does NOT cover: living costs, housing, travel, or visas

Programme Components

• Scholarship tied to a specific degree applied for

• Selection based entirely on academic merit

• Motivation letter required (max 600 words)

Application Requirements

✔ Apply to an eligible degree program first
✔ Pay application fee and submit supporting documents
✔ Submit a Scholarship Motivation Letter (up to 600 words)
✔ Apply through the designated scholarship portal when open

Selection Criteria

Awards are based on:

• Academic excellence

• Fit and commitment to Lund University

• Choice ranking — priority to first-choice applicants

Financial need is not considered.

Application Process

1️⃣ Apply for a degree program via universityadmissions.se
2️⃣ Wait for scholarship application portal notification by email
3️⃣ Submit motivation letter and forms through scholarship portal
4️⃣ Await results after admission decisions

If selected, recipients must accept the scholarship, accept study place, and pay remaining tuition balance within stated deadlines.
