The Faculty of Mathematics Global Scholarships are prestigious undergraduate entrance awards offered to outstanding international students enrolling in Mathematics-related programmes. Approximately 10 high-value scholarships are awarded each year to academically exceptional students with strong performance in mathematics and computer science.

These awards are designed to attract top global talent to mathematics-focused disciplines and support students across their first four years of study (eight academic terms).

Scholarship Benefits

Successful students will receive:

Continuation Condition:

Payments beyond Year One require:

  • Minimum 80% academic average

  • Continuous enrolment in an approved programme

Eligible Programmes

Students must be enrolled in any Faculty of Mathematics programme, including:

  • Honours Mathematics

  • Computer Science

  • Mathematics/Business Administration

  • Mathematics/Chartered Professional Accountancy

  • Mathematics/Financial Analysis and Risk Management

  • Business Administration (Laurier) & Computer Science (Waterloo) – Double Degree

  • Business Administration (Laurier) & Mathematics (Waterloo) – Double Degree

Excluded Programmes:

  • Software Engineering

  • Computing and Financial Management

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be international students

  • Hold a valid study permit

  • Be enrolled in an eligible Faculty of Mathematics programme

  • Demonstrate distinguished academic performance

  • Show excellence in mathematics and/or computer science

  • Have achievements in:

    • Math/CS competitions

    • Academic clubs

    • Enriched mathematics studies

    • Volunteering, work experience, or related hobbies

  • Complete the Admission Information Form (AIF)

  • Demonstrate interest beyond standard coursework

Additional strengths considered:

  • Student leadership

  • Student government

  • Athletics

  • Music, arts, and extracurricular excellence
