  • Not hold another major scholarship simultaneously

Required Statement

Applicants must submit a Widening Participation Statement (max 800 words) explaining:

  • Any barriers faced (e.g., disability, low-income background, first-generation student)

  • Why you want to study at SOAS University of London

  • How the PhD and scholarship will impact your career or community

Special Reserved Scholarship

One scholarship is reserved for:

  • A Palestinian national

  • Resident in historic Palestine (Gaza, West Bank, East Jerusalem, or Palestinian citizens in Israel)

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • Academic performance

  • Research proposal

  • References

  • Publications (if available)

  • Widening participation statement

A diverse advisory panel will assess applications.
