BackPack-Excellence Scholarship 2025 for Women Overview

The Backpack-Excellence Scholarship for Women is designed to empower highly talented women who have faced barriers such as financial hardship, family responsibilities, or disruptions in their career paths. Offered by IMD Business School in partnership with the BackPack Foundation, this scholarship provides not only full tuition coverage for an MBA but also living expenses, equipping women to step into impactful leadership roles in business and society.

BackPack-Excellence Scholarship 2025 for Women: Eligibility

• Must be a female applicant applying to the IMD MBA program

• Must demonstrate strong leadership potential

• Must have faced financial constraints, caregiving responsibilities, or interrupted career paths

• Open to self-sponsored applicants only (not eligible if company-sponsored)

BackPack-Excellence Scholarship 2025 for Women: Application Requirements

• Apply through the IMD MBA admissions application form

• Submit a 500-word essay answering:
  “What pressing challenge, whether in your community or more broadly, are you most passionate about addressing? How do you think a BackPack-supported MBA at IMD will enable you to contribute to addressing that challenge?”

• Record and submit a 90–120 second video describing a moment when you embodied one or more of the BackPack Foundation values:

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Backpack assessment

BackPack-Excellence Scholarship 2025 for Women: Selection Criteria

• Demonstrated leadership potential

• Clear commitment to making a difference in business or public life

• Strong alignment with the values of the Backpack Foundation

• Motivation to create a ripple effect of empowerment for other women

Restrictions

• Only one scholarship can be awarded per candidate (scholarships are non-cumulative)

• Not open to applicants who are sponsored by their companies

Application Process

1. Begin your application for the IMD MBA program

2. Complete the scholarship section within the admissions form

3. Attach the required essay and video

4. Await a possible invitation to the Backpack assessment

5. Final decisions are communicated following the assessment
