These studentships provide financial support to Master’s students from low-income and underrepresented backgrounds in the UK. They are designed to help students with a history of educational disadvantage access postgraduate education at the University of Cambridge.

Scholarship Categories

• Cambridge Opportunity Studentships – for UK Master’s students from low-income households with educational disadvantage
• Get In Cambridge Studentships – for Master’s students who meet the above criteria and are from Black, British Bangladeshi, or British Pakistani backgrounds

Cambridge Opportunity Studentships and Get In Cambridge Studentships 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be applying for a full-time Master’s course at Cambridge
  • Pay Home (UK) tuition fees
  • Not already hold a Master’s degree or be currently studying at the postgraduate level
  • Lack the financial means to fund the course (no significant savings, income, or financial support)

Additionally, one or more of the following should apply:

  • • Received Free School Meals in secondary school
  • • Experienced care, were a young carer, or lived in a deprived area (as per UK IMD database)
  • • Had disrupted education due to health, bereavement, or frequent school changes
  • • Were eligible for maintenance loans or grants during undergraduate studies
  • • Are first generation in their family to attend university
  • • Were estranged from family, or a single parent during undergraduate study
  • • Have Refugee or Humanitarian Protection status in the UK

Documents Required

• No separate scholarship application
• Required to answer specific questions during the standard University of Cambridge postgraduate application
• Must apply by the funding deadline for your chosen course

Important Notes

• These scholarships cover University fees and living expenses (after factoring in the UK government postgraduate loan)
• If you defer or do not meet eligibility criteria, you forfeit the award
• Cambridge will request evidence if necessary to support your statements

Selection Process

• Based on eligibility responses in your Cambridge admission application
• Competitive and subject to review by the Cambridge Trust
