Central South University (CSU) offers scholarships for international students pursuing Master’s and Doctorate programs. The scholarship includes full and partial funding.

Central South University Scholarship for International Students Eligibility

• Non-Chinese citizens with no criminal record and in good health.
• Age:
  • Master’s applicants: 18-35 years with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Doctorate applicants: 18-40 years with a Master’s degree.
• Language Requirements:
  • Chinese-taught programs: HSK4 (260 for science/engineering) or HSK5 (200 for arts/social science/medicine).
  • English-taught programs: IELTS (6.0) or TOEFL (85).
  • Exemptions apply to native speakers and those who studied in Chinese/English before.
• Strong academic background and research capabilities.

Central South University Scholarship for International Students Benefits

• Full Scholarship: Covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, and a monthly stipend.
• Partial Scholarship: Covers tuition only.

Central South University Scholarship for International Students Application Requirements

1. Passport (valid for over a year).
2. Highest graduation certificate.
3. Official transcripts.
4. Non-criminal record.
5. Physical examination record.
6. Language proficiency certificate.
7. Self-introduction video (1-minute MP4).
8. Statement of not receiving any other scholarships.
9. Two recommendation letters (signed after October 1, 2024).
10. Study plan (min. 1000 words).
11. Acceptance letter (if available).
12. Supporting documents (CV, published papers, etc.).

Note: Documents not in English/Chinese must be notarized translations.

Central South University Scholarship for International Students Application Process

1. Online Application: Submit at CSU Application Portal.
2. Initial Review & Application Fee: After passing, pay CNY 500 via WeChat, Alipay, or UnionPay.
3. Academic Review: Evaluation of research and academic potential.
4. Result Announcement: Admission email will confirm the scholarship award.

Annual Review

Scholarship recipients must undergo an annual performance review to continue receiving benefits.

Additional Notes

• Applicants with Chinese heritage must prove they hold foreign nationality for over four years.
• Admitted students must purchase medical insurance.
• The application fee is non-refundable.
