Chancellor’s National Academy STEM Ph.D. Fellowship at Texas A&M University (2026): Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Hold (or expect to hold by August 2026) a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field. A master’s degree is optional.

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.9/4.0 in their STEM bachelor’s degree.

  • Apply for or gain admission into a STEM doctoral program at Texas A&M University beginning Fall 2026.

  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible noncitizen.

Chancellor’s National Academy STEM Ph.D. Fellowship at Texas A&M University (2026): Benefits

  • $40,000 annual stipend for 4 years of doctoral study.

  • Full tuition and fees coverage (4 years).

  • Student health insurance (4 years).

  • National Fellowship Augmentation: If awarded a major national fellowship (e.g., NSF GRFP, NDSEG), the stipend increases to $50,000 per year, with continued tuition, fees, and insurance coverage.

Fellowship Program Components

  • Collaboration with National Academy Members: Students will be mentored by top U.S. scholars from the NAS, NAM, NAE, or AMACAD.

  • Mentorship by Rising Star Faculty: Fellows are paired with emerging leaders in STEM research.

  • Engagement with Visiting Scholars: Interaction with Hagler Institute Fellows who are globally recognized leaders in their fields.

  • Unique Scholarly Community: Opportunities to learn, network, and collaborate in a one-of-a-kind academic environment.

Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  1. Apply for Graduate Admission at Texas A&M University (STEM doctoral program).

  3. Submit all required supporting documents by January 19, 2026.

Late applications will not be accepted.

Selection Criteria

Applicants are evaluated on:

  • Academic excellence (minimum GPA 3.9/4.0).

  • Strength of research potential and STEM background.

  • Alignment with participating Texas A&M faculty and National Academy mentors.

  • Overall readiness for doctoral-level research and leadership in STEM.
