Overview
The Cobham-Ultra UK Scholarship supports UK/Home undergraduate students beginning eligible Engineering, Environment, Mathematics, and Physics programmes at Northumbria University in September 2026. Two students will receive £3,500 (first year only) to enhance their academic experience. The award is a cash scholarship, paid in instalments during the first year.

You must also:

Apply and enrol in one of the eligible full-time programmes at Northumbria (Newcastle campus)

Choose Northumbria as your firm choice by 30 June 2026

Be self-funded (not employer-sponsored)

Apply for Student Finance and give consent for data sharing

Register with the appropriate Student Finance body (SFE, SFW, SFNI, or SAAS for Scotland)

Application Requirements
Applicants must complete an online written application, including:

A 3000-character (approx. 500 words) statement answering:
“How will this Award support your aspirations to succeed in Higher Education?” -
Verification through UCAS for:

Selection Criteria
Applicants must meet at least one of the following widening-participation criteria:

Live in a low Higher Education progression neighbourhood
(Check POLAR4 or TUNDRA postcode data via the Postcode Checker) -
Identify as Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME)

Have a declared physical/mental health condition, long-term illness, or learning difference on UCAS
Selection is competitive and based on:
