DAAD Study Scholarships 2026 for STEM Disciplines in Germany: Overview

The DAAD Study Scholarships for STEM disciplines support outstanding graduates who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in Germany starting in October 2026. The program offers a unique opportunity to study at top German universities while advancing in fields such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Eligibility

  • Open to international students with a Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related fields.

  • Applicants must meet minimum grade requirements:

    • GPA 3.0/4.0 scale, or

    • 2.0/5.0 scale (where 1.0 is best).

  • Proof of language proficiency (minimum B1) in the language of instruction (German or English).

  • Must apply for Master’s programs in Germany that do not charge tuition fees.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit their documents through the DAAD online portal (available June–October). Required materials include:

  • CV (max. 3 pages, tabular format).

  • Motivation letter (1–3 pages) explaining academic and personal reasons for studying in Germany.

  • Letter of admission (or proof of application) to a German university.

  • DAAD form “Information about your preferred Master’s programmes” (up to 5 choices).

  • Academic transcripts and degree certificates (with translations if not in English/German).

  • Language certificate (B1 or above, max. 2 years old).

  • One academic recommendation letter (on DAAD form).

  • Passport/ID copy.

  • Optional: Employment certificates, proof of extracurricular engagement.

Selection Criteria

Applicants are evaluated based on:

  • Academic excellence.

  • Quality and feasibility of the study project in Germany.

  • Strong motivation and clear career objectives.

  • Engagement in extracurricular or social activities.

Application Process

  1. Register and apply via the DAAD Portal.

  2. Upload all required documents in the designated sections.

  3. Submit before 21 October 2025, 24:00 CET/CEST.

  4. Wait for shortlisting & interview (if applicable).

  5. Final results will be released by February 2026.
