Deakin RTP and DUPR Scholarships for 2025: Overview

Deakin University is offering two prestigious postgraduate research scholarships for both domestic and international students: the Research Training Program (RTP) funded by the Australian Government and the Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (DUPR) funded by Deakin. These scholarships support outstanding candidates pursuing a Master’s by Research or Doctoral degree.

Deakin RTP and DUPR Scholarships for 2025:Deadline

  • International applicants: 24 August 2025 (for February 2026 intake)

  • Domestic applicants: 24 October 2025 (for February 2026 intake)

Deakin RTP and DUPR Scholarships for 2025: Benefits

  • Annual stipend of $35,550 (2025 rate, tax-free)

  • Tuition fee offset for up to 4 years (PhD) or 2 years (Master’s)

  • Relocation allowance: $500 – $1,500 for students moving interstate or internationally

  • Single OSHC policy for international students

Scholarship Categories

  • DUPR Stipend and Tuition Fee Offset (Deakin University)

Deakin RTP and DUPR Scholarships for 2025: Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be enrolled or intend to enrol in a graduate research program at Deakin University

  • Minimum of four years of tertiary education

  • Achieved at least 80% or equivalent in the research component of prior studies

  • Meet Deakin’s entry requirements for research degrees

  • Not receiving other income exceeding 75% of the scholarship value for living expenses

  • International applicants must meet English language requirements

Documents Required

  • Academic transcripts

  • CV and/or evidence of research experience

  • Research proposal

  • Evidence of English proficiency (for international students)

  • Publications (if any)

  • Two academic references

Important Notes

  • Competitive selection based on academic merit and research potential

  • International applicants also receive a single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

  • Current students may apply if they haven’t exceeded 3 years (PhD) or 2 years (Master’s) of their program

Selection Process

  • Evaluation based on academic qualifications, research experience, publications, and alignment with Deakin’s research priorities

  • Must enrol as full-time, on-campus research students

  • Assessed according to the HDR Scholarships Ranking Guidelines
