Estonian Scholarship Programme for International Students, Researchers, and Academic Staff 2025 Overview

The Estonian Ministry of Education and Research and the Education and Youth Board offer scholarships to foreign nationals through bilateral agreements. Since 2016, these scholarships have been provided under the Estonian Scholarship Programme, supporting international students, researchers, and academic staff.

Scholarships for Summer and Winter Schools

This scholarship supports foreign students attending short-term summer or winter school courses in Estonia. Eligible courses include Estonian language and culture, as well as subjects taught in English at Estonian institutions of higher education.

• Open to BA, MA, and PhD students.

• Applicants must be enrolled in a higher education institution abroad for at least one year by the time of application.

Grant for Researchers and Academic Staff

This grant is available for researchers and academic staff from foreign institutions to engage in research, teaching, or collaboration at Estonian institutions.

• PhD students must apply under the student scholarship program.

• Postdoctoral studies are not covered.
