France Excellence Doctoral Scholarships 2025 Overview

The French Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire, through the Cooperation and Cultural Action Service (SCAC), is offering France Excellence Doctoral Scholarships to support Ivorian students and academic staff pursuing a doctoral degree in France. This initiative aims to strengthen research, boost academic staff development, and foster scientific collaboration between France and Côte d’Ivoire.

France Excellence Doctoral Scholarships 2025 Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be Ivorian and French-speaking

• Be under 40 years old (if not yet integrated into the academic staff)

• Hold a DEA, Master’s degree, or equivalent

• Commit to returning to Côte d’Ivoire after the PhD

• Be accepted by both a French host institution and an Ivorian home laboratory

• Cover their own travel costs

France Excellence Doctoral Scholarships 2025 Benefits

• Monthly allowance for up to 4 months per year, over 3 years

• Social security coverage in France

• Administrative support from Campus France

• Co-supervision between France and Côte d’Ivoire

Note: Travel and bench fees are not covered.

France Excellence Doctoral Scholarships 2025 Program Components

• Three 4-month stays annually in France

• Dual supervision: host lab in France + home lab in Côte d’Ivoire

• Mandatory defense in Côte d’Ivoire

• Annual progress reports and commitment to return and integrate into Ivorian academic/research institutions

Application Requirements

• Completed application form (download from the Embassy/Campus France Côte d’Ivoire websites)

• Research proposal with development relevance

• Acceptance letters from both French and Ivorian institutions

• Commitment letters for funding travel, post-PhD integration, and return to Côte d’Ivoire

Selection Criteria

• Academic excellence

• Relevance of research to Ivorian development

• Institutional support and co-supervision quality

• Long-term professional impact and employability potential

Application Process

• Deadline: May 18, 2025 (11:59 p.m.)

• Submit application to the French Embassy in Plateau

• Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed between June 12, 2025

• Final selection made by a joint Franco-Ivorian jury
