Fully Funded Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2025: Overview

The Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships are fully funded awards provided by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in partnership with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). They aim to support talented and motivated individuals from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries to undertake a full-time taught Master’s degree at a UK university. The scholarships are designed for candidates who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK and focus on building skills for sustainable development.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of, or have refugee status from, an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
  • Be available to start academic studies in the UK by September/October 2026.
  • Demonstrate financial need (unable to study in the UK without the scholarship).

Benefits

  • Full tuition fees (covered by agreement between CSC and UK universities).
  • Return airfare from your home country to the UK.
  • Living allowance of £1,378 per month (2025–2026 rate).
  • Warm clothing allowance (if applicable).
  • Study travel grant for study-related travel in the UK or abroad.
  • Child allowance: £590 per month for the first child, £146 for the second and third child (under 16, if living in the UK with the scholar).
  • Disability support, following a needs-based assessment.

Fellowship/Program Components

  • Taught a Master’s degree at a recognized UK university.
  • Engagement with CSC’s development-focused themes.
  • Access to networking, training, and alumni opportunities.

Application Requirements
Applicants will typically need to provide:

  • Proof of citizenship or refugee status.
  • Academic transcripts and degree certificates.
  • Admission application to a UK university (for a Master’s program).
  • References and supporting documents (as requested by CSC).

Selection Criteria

  • Academic merit.
  • Quality of the study plan.
  • Potential impact on the development of the applicant’s home country.

Application Process

  • Applications must be made online via the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) portal.
  • Applicants may also be required to apply through a nominating body (national agency or university) in their home country.
