Overview

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management (MESPOM) invites applications for the 2026–2028 academic session. This prestigious program, co-funded by the European Commission, is jointly offered by Central European University (Austria), Lund University (Sweden), the University of Manchester (UK), and the University of the Aegean (Greece).

Since 2005, MESPOM has trained global environmental leaders equipped to tackle complex sustainability challenges through interdisciplinary study, hands-on learning, and international collaboration. The program integrates science, policy, and management, offering a truly global learning experience with exposure to diverse environmental perspectives.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree (minimum GPA 3.5 or equivalent) in environmental sciences, policy, management, natural or social sciences, engineering, or related fields.

• Applicants with other degrees may also apply if they demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental issues (via professional or volunteer experience).

• Demonstrate proficiency in English.

• Open to applicants from all countries worldwide.

• Admission is highly competitive and based on academic excellence, motivation, and relevant experience.

Program Components

The MESPOM program spans two years (120 ECTS) and includes:

• Multi-country learning: Students study across four partner universities in Austria, Greece, Sweden, and the UK.

• First year:

  • Fall & winter: Courses at Central European University (Austria).

  • Spring: Courses at the University of the Aegean (Greece).

  • Summer: Internships with partner organizations or NGOs.

• Second year:

  • Fall: Study at Lund University (Sweden) or the University of Manchester (UK).

  • Spring: Thesis work at any partner university.
