Fully Funded IHE Delft SIDS Scholarships 2025: Overview

The IHE Delft Institute for Water Education is offering SIDS Scholarships for students from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to pursue the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development. Funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the scholarships aim to strengthen capacity and build networks of water professionals in eligible countries. The program requires scholars to conduct their MSc research in their home country or region, in collaboration with projects supported by the Water and Development Partnership Programme.

Fully Funded IHE Delft SIDS Scholarships 2025: Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a national of one of the eligible SIDS countries (list below).

  • Be academically admitted to the regular or research variant of the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development.

  • Live and/or work in one of the eligible countries.

  • Agree to conduct MSc research in their country/region associated with a project supported by the Programme.

  • Agree to actively participate in seminars organized by the Programme’s learning networks.

  • Provide an employer recommendation letter (on official letterhead, dated, signed, confirming return to work after studies, explaining how the studies will benefit the organization, and specifying involvement in any project funded by the Programme, if applicable).

  • Confirm intention to return to their country or another priority country of the Programme after completion.

  • Provide sufficient proof of English language proficiency by 1 June 2025.

Belize, Cabo Verde, Comoros, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Grenada, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Kiribati, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia (Federated States), Montserrat, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Samoa, Sao Tome & Principe, Solomon Islands, Suriname, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

Fully Funded IHE Delft SIDS Scholarships 2025: Benefits

There are full and partial scholarships available.
Full scholarships cover:

  • Tuition fee for the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development.

  • International travel costs.

  • Insurance.

  • Monthly allowance of €1,220 for living expenses and accommodation for the entire study duration.

Fully Funded IHE Delft SIDS Scholarships 2025: Application Requirements

  • Completion of the IHE Delft MSc admission application.

  • Two recommendation letters, with one from the employer (see eligibility for required content).

  • Proof of English proficiency before 1 June 2025.

Fully Funded IHE Delft SIDS Scholarships 2025: Selection Criteria

  • Priority given to female candidates.

  • Strong motivation (addressed through 5 motivation questions in the online application).

  • Strong academic background.

  • Relevant work experience preferred.

  • Candidates who can provide partial co-funding from other sources will be prioritized in tie-breaker situations.

Restrictions

  • Failure to provide English test results by 1 June 2025 makes you ineligible.

  • The scholarship cannot be deferred to another year.

Application Process

  1. Apply for admission to the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development at IHE Delft.

  2. No separate scholarship form required—you’ll automatically be considered if you meet the eligibility criteria.

  3. Submit all required documents including recommendation letters and proof of English proficiency by the deadline.

  4. Applicants are encouraged to also apply for other scholarships (e.g., Rabbani Scholarship) to increase funding opportunities.
