Fully Funded Journalism Fellowship in Germany 2025 Overview

The International Journalists’ Programmes (IJP) offers a two-month fellowship in Germany for up to five young journalists from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, and Israel. The program fosters dialogue between German and Middle Eastern media, promoting cultural understanding and international networking.

Fully Funded Journalism Fellowship in Germany 2025 Eligibility

  • Open to journalists from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, and Israel

  • Early-career professionals with a strong interest in German politics and society

  • Strong command of English; knowledge of German is a plus but not required

  • Applicants must be employed in a media organization or working as freelance journalists

  • Support letter from editor-in-chief confirming leave of absence and endorsing the application

Fully Funded Journalism Fellowship in Germany 2025 Benefits

  • One-time stipend of €5,000 (including €1,000 travel allowance)

  • Two-month placement at a German media outlet

  • Participation in a Berlin conference (October 29–31, 2025)

  • German language course

Fully Funded Journalism Fellowship in Germany 2025: Application Requirements

  • CV with passport photo

  • Recommendation letter from the editor-in-chief or department head

  • Samples of journalistic work (optional but recommended)

  • Strong motivation to participate

  • Ability to produce a final report (minimum three pages) after the fellowship

  • Demonstrated interest in German-Middle Eastern relations

  • Professional journalistic background

  • English proficiency

Restrictions

  • No additional remuneration for journalistic work during the placement
