The University of New England (UNE), in partnership with Cogninet Australia, is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Medical and Educational Data Analytics. This exciting research opportunity focuses on developing AI-driven models to support medical decision-making (diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring) and enhance educational analytics to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.

Fully Funded PhD in AI & Machine Learning for Healthcare and Education: Eligibility

• Open to both domestic and international applicants
• Applicants must have a computer science background with strong Python programming skills
• Must be available for industry partner engagement and internship as part of studies
• Eligible for new or continuing students
• Full-time, doctoral degree candidates only

Benefits

• Annual stipend of $36,862 (2025 rate), tax-free, paid fortnightly
• Tuition fees fully covered
• Single Overseas Health Cover (OSHC) for international students
• Duration: 3.5 years full-time (Doctoral degree)

Fellowship/Program Components

• PhD research within UNE’s School of Science and Technology
• Development of AI and machine learning models for:
  • Medical data analytics (imaging, video, text-based reports)
  • Educational data analytics (student learning and engagement)
• Industry engagement and internship opportunities
