Fully Funded University of Melbourne Computing and Information Systems PhD Scholarship 2025 Overview

The University of Melbourne offers the Computing and Information Systems PhD Scholarship to outstanding graduates of its Master of Computer Science program. This scholarship supports students commencing the Doctor of Philosophy – Engineering and Information Technology in Computing and Information Systems. It covers full tuition and provides a generous stipend.

Fully Funded University of Melbourne Computing and Information Systems PhD Scholarship 2025 Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have completed a Master of Computer Science at the University of Melbourne

  • Apply and meet the admission requirements for the PhD in Engineering and IT (Computing and Information Systems)

  • Be a domestic or international student applying for future graduate research study

Fully Funded University of Melbourne Computing and Information Systems PhD Scholarship 2025 Benefits

  • Full tuition fee remission

  • Top-up stipend of AUD $20,000 per year (paid fortnightly)

  • Maximum funding of up to AUD $70,000

  • Duration: Up to 3.5 years

Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  1. Apply for the Doctor of Philosophy – Engineering and Information Technology (DR-PHILEIT) Apply here

  2. Email the following documents to FEIT-GR-Admissions@unimelb.edu.au with the subject line: “Your Name – Student ID – CIS PhD Scholarship”:

    • Research proposal

    • Personal statement highlighting leadership, innovation, growth, and societal contribution

    • Letter of support from a prospective supervisor

Selection Criteria

  • Academic excellence in prior studies

  • Strength of the research proposal

  • Demonstrated leadership and innovation potential

  • Supervisor’s recommendation

  • Ranked by a selection panel

Restrictions

  • Cannot be deferred

  • Subject to the University’s Graduate Research Terms and Conditions

  • Changes to eligibility/benefits are pending Academic Board approval
