Overview

The 2026–27 GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders support emerging African professionals to develop advanced skills in global health, policy, and health-related research.
The scholarship aims to strengthen health systems and leadership capacity across sub-Saharan Africa.
This prestigious and highly competitive award funds a one-year, full-time, face-to-face MSc program at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be nationals and current residents of sub-Saharan Africa

  • Intend to return to Africa after completing the MSc program

  • Confirm financial inability to self-fund the programme

  • Hold a first degree (First Class or Upper Second–Class equivalent)

  • Meet LSHTM English language requirements by 15 June 2026

  • Hold an offer of admission for a London-based intensive MSc 2026–27

🎯 Preference given to candidates who show strong potential to contribute to public health or health research in Africa.

Benefits

Each scholarship covers:

  • Full tuition fees (including mandatory field trip fees)

  • Tax-free stipend of GBP £22,000 for living expenses

Scholarship Components

  • One-year London-based intensive MSc

Not eligible for joint programs (including Global Mental Health, One Health, Health Policy Planning & Financing, Veterinary Epidemiology).

  • Online scholarship application (via emailed portal link)

  • Proof of English proficiency by the deadline

  • Supporting academic documents and ID

  • Statement confirming financial need

Incomplete applications (missing documents OR missed steps) will not be considered.

Selection Criteria

Candidates evaluated based on:

  • Academic performance

  • Leadership and potential impact in African health

  • Professional or research experience

  • Commitment to return and contribute to Africa

  • Quality of application responses
