IMU CDC Graduate Research Assistantships in Developing Countries (GRAID) Program Overview
The Graduate Research Assistantships in Developing Countries (GRAID) Program, established by IMU CDC in 2017, aims to support emerging research groups in Priority 1 or 2 developing countries by funding talented graduate students pursuing Master’s or PhD degrees in mathematics. The program fosters mathematics community growth and connects students with international mathematicians.
IMU CDC Graduate Research Assistantships in Developing Countries (GRAID) Program Eligibility
🔹 For Principal Investigators (PI)
Applicants must:
- Be a university professor in mathematics with a PhD.
- Be based at a university or research center in a Priority 1 or 2 developing country.
- Be currently supervising mathematics Master’s or PhD students.
- Serve as the PI of an emerging research group.
- Have an active collaboration with an International Partner outside Priority 1 or 2 countries.
🔹 For Student Nominees
Students must:
- Demonstrate an outstanding academic record in mathematical sciences.
- Have already been accepted into a Master’s or PhD program in mathematics.
IMU CDC Graduate Research Assistantships in Developing Countries (GRAID) Program Benefits
💰 Funding Amount:
- Up to $3,500 per year per research group (shared if multiple students are funded).
- Covers tuition fees, accommodation, and basic living expenses.
📅 Duration of Support:
- Master’s students: Up to 2 years.
- PhD students: Up to 4 years.
- Funding continues until graduation or the maximum period, whichever comes first.
✅ Additional Support:
- Students get networking opportunities with international mathematicians.
- Continued funding is subject to satisfactory progress.
