Iowa State University International Merit Scholarships for First-Year Students Overview
Iowa State University offers merit-based scholarships to outstanding first-year and transfer international students. These awards recognize academic achievement and extracurricular involvement, helping students offset the cost of undergraduate education at a top U.S. university.
Iowa State University International Merit Scholarships for First-Year Students Eligibility

Must be an incoming international first-year student

Must be offered admission and pay international tuition

Must accept the admission offer by May 1

Must submit the OneApp Scholarship Application (both General and International Student sections)

Scholarship is only for undergraduate students
Iowa State University International Merit Scholarships for First-Year Students Scholarship Award Values
International Merit Scholarship (Fall and Spring Terms)
-
Award of Achievement: Up to $40,000 total ($5,000–$10,000 per year)
-
Award of Distinction: Up to $16,000 total ($2,000–$4,000 per year)
Recipients can receive funding for up to 8 semesters or until degree completion (whichever comes first).
Iowa State University International Merit Scholarships for First-Year Students Application Process

Apply and gain admission to Iowa State as an international first-year undergraduate.

Log in to Iowa State’s OneApp Scholarship Portal.

Complete the General Application.

Navigate to Opportunities > Recommended, then select the International Students Admission Scholarship Application for your intended term.

Submit before the relevant deadline to be considered.
Renewal Requirements
To retain the scholarship throughout your studies, you must:

Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
-
Be enrolled in at least 12 credits per semester (excluding summer)

Remain classified as an international student

Use the scholarship only for tuition and fees
