Job Title: Account Officer

Responsibilities & Requirement

• Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
• Managing project budgets and financial forecasts.
• Ensure timely bank payments and monitor bank deposits.
• Prepare financial statements monthly, quarterly, annual year-end closing procedures, and financial analysis.
• Experience in the construction industry is highly valuable due to its specific accounting needs, such as project accounting, job costing, and understanding of construction contracts.
• Experience in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, payments, collections, and reconciliations.
• Attend project kick off meeting. Review contracts. Note items concerning financial matters such as billing requirements, change order procedures reimbursable v. non-reimbursable costs, allowable mark-ups, fee structure, and retention requirements.
• Liaise with external auditors during audits.
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
• Prepare the schedules for statutory remittances (PAYE, Withholding tax, Pension, Company tax, ITF, NSITF, among others) and ensuring timely remittance.
• Maintain a complete and accurate Fixed Asset Register for the company
• Provide technical support and advice on management.
• Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Identify discrepancies, analyze financial information, and propose solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Performance Metrics:

• Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
• Budget variance analysis and cost control.
• Internal control and accounting procedure adherence
